Lord Rutherford split the atom. What would he have made of Horrible Science??!!
Horrible Book Blog!
Don't you just love it! The very idea! - Horrible Books! - Well kids certainly do, they lap them up... can't get enough of them, but never mind, because there's always more on the way!
Not far away from where we type these words, in a quaint North Devon seaside village, lives Nick Arnold, author of the Horrible Science books. Every time we pass Nick's house we expect to see clouds of green smoke billowing out the chimney, through cracks in the eves, and even out the windows - but to date we've been sorely disappointed! We are certain that one fine day - or more likely, in the middle of the night - one of the experiments Nick conducts before putting pen to paper will go HORRIBLY wrong and there will be lots of green smoke, or lots of little green men, jumping out of test tubes - and lots of firemen with red engines running around and trying to put a stop to it all! Just you wait and see!
Since 1997, not long after being grabbed by publishers Scholastic and told they would actually pay him to write, Nick Arnold and his illustrators, such as Tony de Saulles, have churned out some thirty-six stomach-churning tales in the Horrible Science series, six in the Wild Lives series, and are threatening us with another five titles - Beastly Body Experiments, Bulging Brain Experiments, an Ugly Bugs Jigsaw Book, an Angry Animals Shuffle Puzzle Book and to top it all off a Horrible Science Annual 2009 - all between now and next year!
If you wish to learn more, and pick up a free experiment or two if you dare, you can also visit Nick Arnold's website at: http://nickarnold-website.com
